Climate-smart hiking
on the "WunderWanderWeg"

Mountain hut hostess, Tanja Senn, regularly explores current topics that demonstrate climate change on the award-winning WunderWanderWeg trail on the Arlberg.

The WunderWanderWeg meanders around the 1,500-metre high Sennhütte in St. Anton am Arlberg and consists of an Alpine flower and herb garden, a nature playground, Kneipp water and barefoot path, the Edelweiss path, a tree house and the WunderWald magic forest. Over 25 information boards in German and English explain what is happening as a result of climate change and how different ecosystems are adapting to it. For example, the effects and process of change on meadows, animals, forests and water are explained and visitors are given ideas on how they can make a personal contribution to maintaining an intact natural environment. The "Edelweiss Trail" was even awarded the Guinness World Records TM in 2017 for the "Largest Floral Arrangement based on the number of blossoms".

"It wouldn't be the WunderWanderWeg (Wonder Walking Way) if there weren't exciting little wonders to discover along the way," explains Tanja Senn, who is not only a mountain hut hostess, but also a Tirolean nature guide, herbalist, forest bathing trainer, hunter and now also one of the first certified climate educators. Who knew, for example, that ants can adapt to climate change with a very special technique? Or what stimulates the grass in a meadow to grow faster? In collaboration with experts, Tanja has also examined technical terms and special topics.

The WunderWunderWeg, also known as the "Nature in Change Trail", is open daily from 10.00 to 18.00 hrs from the end of June to mid-September and is free of charge. On request, Tanja Senn also offers advanced training courses for schoolchildren and adults. Every year on 15th August, the "Arlberg Herb Festival with Herb Market" takes place at the Sennhütte.
