From Austria's first indoor bike park and a spectacular observation tower, to interactive radio drama tours and new long-distance hiking trails: there is much to experience in Tirol all over again this summer!

 

Area 47 opens Austria's first indoor bike park

The bike community has yet another reason to hit the pedals in Tirol's longest tributary valley: Austria's largest leisure park, AREA 47 in the Ötztal, has converted the former e-motocross event hall into a spectacular 3,700 m² indoor bike park. The varied facilities with pumptrack, flowline, kicker or drops can be used in all weathers from the start of the summer season on 28th April 2023.

New bike trails and lines from Brixen im Thale to Mittersill

1.2 million euros will be invested by the "Bike ARGE” consortium to create an attractive range of bike trails at medium altitudes from Brixen to Mittersill. Easy and medium-difficulty trails as well as a "skills park" are planned. The Brixen Valley region is already well established as a biking region. Among others, the Fleckalmtrail showcase project or the KitzAlpBike event, which will take place from 28th June to 1st July 2023, have already garnered great popularity.

Welcome to Tirol’s largest gravel bike region!

As it is one of the most exciting trends in the bike scene, four regions (Lechtal, Naturparkregion Reutte,Tannheimer Tal, Tiroler Zugspitz Arena) have joined forces to offer 18 routes, with over 1,000 kilometres of trails and over 22,000 metres of altitude difference: Welcome to Tirol’s largest gravel bike region! New “Top of Alpbachtal“ scenic tower

13 metres tall and panoramic views: the new "Top of Alpbachtal" observation tower is the highlight of the new Hornbahn 2000 mountain station. The tower was built of wood and clad with handmade shingles. Large glass fronts provide a magnificent view of the surrounding mountains.  Snøhetta, an internationally renowned architectural firm, is responsible for the new tower’s design.

Two interactive guided tours in the city and on the mountain

Interactive adventure tours with radio drama appeal:  you can now explore the pretty old town of Hall in Tirol in this exciting way. The newly developed City Tour by app takes you to the most important sights of the largest old town in Tirol in humorous and interactive style. From summer 2023, an app by the same gamification manufacturer will also lure Puzzle Fans to Spieljoch in Zillertal, where the task is to embark on an exciting search for the legacy of the rich "Grandfather Mauritsch".

New Zillertal Alps Nature Park House in Ginzling

No dull showcases, no boring information boards, no hands-off approach: The new Nature Park House in Ginzling, which opens on 17th June 2023, features a comprehensive exhibition dedicated to the geological gems of Zillertal and actively encourages visitors to get involved. Themes include the history of the earth, geology, crystals and minerals. Another highlight is the newly created nature garden with climbing and play area.

Because hiking is not only the miller’s delight: two new Tirolean long-distance hiking trails

Hikers in the East Tirol region can look forward to a new long-distance hiking trail near the legendary king of the Austrian mountains, the Grossglockner. The Glocknerkrone high altitude trail takes you past ancient cultural landscapes shaped by mountain farming in six sometimes challenging stages. Silberregion Karwendel also has a new long-distance hiking trail. The Tiroler Silberpfad (Tirolean Silver Trail) is a five-day circular tour covering 86 kilometres and 3,360 metres of altitude difference through all 12 municipalities of the popular holiday region in the Lower Inn Valley.
