Swarovski Crystal Worlds unveiled its new Chamber of Wonder in May: “Crystallizing Identity“, a powerful exhibit by internationally acclaimed Japanese performance and installation artist Chiharu Shiota.
For the first time, Shiota has incorporated Swarovski crystals into one of her works. The piece draws on the Japanese legend of the invisible red thread – a tale passed down through generations that tells of people connected by fate, bound together by a red thread regardless of time, place, or circumstance. The installation brings this story to life through a web of red yarn threaded with sparkling crystal beads. All strands eventually converge, forming the outline of two feet, two arms, and the hand of the artist herself.
