Increasingly modern and fast expanding cable car systems, new or refurbished hotels. Tirol's winter tourism is amongst the best in the world and is once again gearing up for the next white season.

Mayrhofen Ski Resort is investing 18 million euros in a mono-cable ropeway with 10-person gondolas. From December 2018, the new cable car will connect the district of Mösl in Hochschwendberg with Action Mount Penken. A further 2.7 million euros is to be invested in new areas of pistes. Winter sports lovers can now look forward to an additional 1.2 kilometres of slopes over six hectares.

The new 6-seater Larmach chairlift will open in December 2018 in the Zillertal Arena. The system will be equipped with weather protector hoods and have a conveyance capacity of 2,800 persons per hour.

Kitzbüheler Horn is benefitting from investments of around 17 million euros in the new 6-seater chairlift, "6SB Brunelle” and 10-passenger "Comfortline S 10EUB Raintal" gondola lift (including snowmaking facilities in the Raintalpisten section). Both lifts are characterised by state-of-the-art comfort and shorter journey times.

From this winter, one single ticket will cover 76 pistes, 121.5 kilometres of slopes and 6 ski areas in the Pitztal Valley:  Pitztal Glacier, Rifflsee, Hochzeiger, Hoch-Imst, Fendels and Kaunertal Glacier are all included.

Pitztal will also be home to the first ski touring park in Tirol. The park is located within the marked skiing area at Pitztal Glacier. It offers ascent trails in three levels of difficulty and facilitates ski touring from mid-September to late April.

Hochgurgl Cable Car Co. are currently building the second section of the Kirchenkarbahn, which will be operational from the winter of 2018/19. The cable car has a conveyance capacity of 2,400 persons per hour.

The “Grande Dame” of cable cars, the Glungezerbahn in Tulfes, has already clocked up 50 years of loyal service and is to be replaced by a new 10-person gondola, which will go into operation in mid-December 2018.

The Jochbahn at Rosshütte in Seefeld is undergoing refurbishments and being brought up to date in terms of capacity and frequency. Re-opening is scheduled for December 23rd, 2018.
