Tirol is a first class cycling destination – and that was the case even before the UCI Road World Championships 2018. Many Tirolean regions continue to invest great efforts in expanding their cycling infrastructure for this very reason. The results are spectacular new cycle paths and mountain bike trails. Top bike events also feature on the programme again in 2019.

Tuxer Joch-Schmirn: New extension of an old route
At last there is an MTB connection from the Zillertal to the Wipptal with the single trail Tuxer Joch - Schmirn. From 01.07.2019, the official route from the Tuxer Joch to the picturesque mountain village of Kasern will be 6.7 kilometres long and lie at 730 metres above sea level.

Bike Trail Hahnenkamm
The new Bike Trail Hahnenkamm will be opened in Kitzbühel in spring 2019 as a follow-up to the Fleckalmtrail, ending right in Gamsstadt. The easy, flowing trail will also be another attraction for trail-savvy bikers.

Peter-Sagan Trail in Osttirol
In spring 2019 the Peter Sagan Trail will be opened on the Sternalm in Lienz. The trail is 4.6 kilometres long and consists of a red trail and a black variant.

News from the Bike Republic
Bike Republic Sölden will also have new routes and paths next summer. For example, the fast "Gahe Line" will open. Graded Blue S1, it will be 7.7 kilometres long and descends 619 metres in altitude.

New pump track in Lermoos
Curves, steep bends, transitions and hills: last autumn the new "Velosolution Pumptrack" was opened in the Lusspark. 60,000 euros have been invested so that cyclists and BMXers can enjoy themselves on the track.

The Emperor's Roundtable
The "Kaiserradrunde", a joint project from the tourism associations of Kufsteinerland, Wilder Kaiser, St. Johann in Tirol and Kaiserwinkel, will be opened in summer 2019. The 83-kilometre route is aimed at electric mountain bikers and sporty MTB riders. The newly built Eibergradweg section on the Eiberg from Söll/Scheffau to Kufstein will officially close the last gap in the cycle route around the Kaisergebirge mountains on 13 July 2019.

Paznaun Cycle Path
Over 1.3 million euros have already been invested in the Paznaun Cycle Path. The first sections of the cycle path project were completed in 2017 and 2018, and construction will continue next summer. With the first sections, an important connection - away from the main road B188 - towards Montafon was created.

Ötztal Cycle Path
Starting in Haiming at 663 metres, the Ötztal Cycle Path runs 52 kilometres through the entire Ötztal valley and ends in Sölden at 1,360 metres. The first 3 sections were built between 2016 and 2018, further sections are to be expanded and optimised in summer 2019.

Crankworx to makes its only European stop in Innsbruck
In 2019, Bikepark Innsbruck on Muttereralm will once again host one of the freestyle bike scene's top events: Crankworx. This year Innsbruck is the only European destination to feature on the tour. Thousands of visitors will be captivated by the downhill competition, the slopestyle competition, the speed-and-style competition as well as the whip-off and pump track contest. The events will run from 12.06. to 16.06.2019.

Bike Transalp will have many new features
In the "Bike Transalp" stage race from 14 to 20 July 2019, 1,000 mountain bikers from 40 countries will master 500 kilometres and more than 18,000 metres of altitude difference in seven days. It is considered one of the most important and toughest mountain bike stage races in the world.

MTB Festival Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis
From Bag Jump Best Trick to Pump Track Challenge: The 2019 MTB Festival at Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis Bike Park (29.07.-04.08.2019) is an outstanding festival celebrating fat tires and promising young talents.

E-Bike World Championships
„Who will take the title?“ is the motto again at the second E-Bike World Championships on 14th September 2019 in Sillian in East Tirol. Enthusiastic e-bikers compete in the categories of “Elite” or “Open for All.“

“Mountain Summer Opening”
Cyclists also appreciate the "Mountain Summer Opening" in den Kitzbühel Alps from 18th May. In addition to the eldoRADo Bikefestival (18th-19th May 2019) and the 5th E-Bike Festival (21st-23rd June 2019), the extensive programme includes introductory tours on the KAT Bike Trail, an e-bike taster tour with brunch and gourmet e-bike tours.
